Book

Book in definition is "written or printed work of fiction or nonfiction, usually on sheets of paper fastened or bound together within covers." Book has been one of the oldest form of media that has impacted our history. Even before the printing press, Book was a source of knowledge and information where people got to learn. And after the invention of printing press, there was a massive information flood that accelerated the development of mankind. Most widely used and purpose of book was related to religion that which was used to spread the words of Bible.

Mass media (Jason)

Television is the broadcasting of a still or moving image via radiowaves or electrical signals to receivers that project a view of the image on a picture tube. TV actually does not have one audience but it is rather targetted to everybody. Currently, TV chanels are increasing due to varietiness of human interests. And to fill those interest and get attention from people, TV programs are constantly changing. In my perspective, I see two purposes of TV. One is to inform and entertain people. The other is to make profit. And because TV has these kinds of characteristic as its foundation, even in comedy program, I see some aspects of commerce. Every program's goal is to survive and it means geting as much viewers possible. TV is very wide that both have infinite possibilities and wide areas of fields that can relate to.

TV (Jason)

The first thing I do when I get back from school is watching TV. TV is very interesting and entertaining that has become a necessity in this twenty first century. TV has power to attract people's attention and sometimes make people addicted to it. Just in a few decades, TV has become more than source of news and proved that it has infinete possibilities. And because TV has so many areas those are related to, what TV says is very impactful for many people and varity kinds of fields. For instance, TV's first purpose was to inform people, the best and widest media in the world. Many people read news papers but how we view the world and get information is more affected by the TV. Series of TV news and other related debates on air greately stirr our perspectives in current situations in the world. Additionally, because TV have many graphics and other interesting aspects, people feel easier to understand and more eye-catching. Currently, TV not only talks about the global issues but it includes the latest godship about one's faborite actors and all sorts of things. Thus this factor have great impact on not only me but for most of the poeple because it deals with every people's interest.

The most influential type of media (Haesun)

The most influential type of media for me is the internet, mostly because internet is the only type of media that I use everyday. Since I'm not allowed to watch TV most of the time, internet is really the only source I have to have access to the current issues. Especially, I feel the need of internet crucially these days because of the Olympics. Even if I didn't have the chance to watch a game in the Olympics, the results are constantly updated through the internet, allowing me to know the results right away. Reading about the Olympics results is not the only thing I do with internet. I often use the internet to read about the latest celebrity gossips or watch TV programs that I missed. Furthermore, internet is very useful when it comes to doing school assignments. Because I have limited access to hardcopy sources, internet becomes very helpful in providing a variety of sources when doing research projects.


Other than using the internet to gather information, I use it to communicate with friends and family. Some of the networks I often use are MSN, Facebook, and Cyworld. Through these networks, I am able to communicate with friends living in different countries. I think one of the best advantages of the internet is that people can communicate instantly, no matter how far they are apart. When friends move to somewhere far, it's really hard to keep in touch with them unless you try hard to do so. However, through internet, it is much easier to keep in touch.

Internet has become a very big part of my life, and I can't imagine not having internet access anywhere I go. Nevertheless, despite the advantages of the internet, I still feel like I should be aware of the danger and drawback of the medium. It is helpful when, and only when, a certain line is kept, because when you cross the line, internet becomes a deterioration of life, not an enhancement.

Magazines

Magazines are publications released periodically, often containing articles, interviews, short stories, or photo essays. Some of different types of magazines include fashion magazines, business magazines, and science magazines. Typically, magazines focusing on current events, such as Newsweek are released once a week or once every two weeks. Also, magazines focusing on specific interests, such as Cat Fancy are released monthly, bumonthly, or quarterly. In most cases, the magazine will have a date on the front cover, which is usually later than the date it was actually produced. Many magazines are available on internet also, though some only publish hard copies.
